Why must he get GAP insurance? Do you know how much he plans to use as a down payment?
GAP insurance is only for people who have little or no money for a down payment. If you buy the "right" way, you have zero need for GAP insurance. Who the hell buys a car with little or no money down?
GAP insurance is just a catchy phrase that stands for: "I couldn't afford it, so I bought it anyway".
