these are my $.02

i came from a highly modded 2011 sti sedan. while yes it is a absolute monster in every aspect handling took me a long time to perfect. in stock form, the STI understeer very heavily. so i compensated by having a stiffer suspension in the rear than the front. even with 275/35/18 tires all around it would still have a tendancy to understeer if i went into the corner too hot. Another issue is that it is not as easy to rate the sti, however driving it hard is a lot easier than driving the BRZ hard. with the sti, you can always compensate by adding a boot full of throttle for the AWD system to correct your mistakes.

the way i see it, the STI and EVO are like an autopilot, it will take a much more skilled driver to drivethe brz fast than an sti fast. Any one that tracked a true rwd platform knows the benefits it has over an sti. the brz is a joy, it listens and has great feel, it is easy to rotate and to me, it is easier to point the car where you want and it takes more driver kill to do so. in the sti you just sort of point the wheel and mash the gas...dont get me wrong the STI was an absolute blast, but sometimes you just feel that the car is doing the work for you. i get much more joy out of the brz because it lets you know quickly that you're doing somehting wrong. while there is a long way to go until the BRZ is perfect, i think given the right brakes and suspension a brz would leave an STI for dead, granted if its not a built motor big turbo sti...but reasonable mods vs reasonable mods if we are talking not a drag race, the brz will definetly put up a serious fight.
