I don't want to sound cruel but whose paying for the vehicle? If you're dad is paying for it I can see where he would (perhaps) have the right to try and dictate what you get. If you're paying for it, thank him for his concern and buy the vehicle you decide you want.
Is the FR-S good? The only FR-S owners I feel sorry for are the young drivers who are only buying their 1st, 2nd or perhaps 3rd car that they've ever owned. I feel sorry for them because they haven't had the opportunity to learn what a fine car they have. I've owned some fine cars in my life including Mustang GT, Corvette, Miata, Porsche 911 and every time I drive my FR-S I'm amazed at what a marvelous, finely tuned package it is.
