I think the reason the drivetrain losses are the same for the MT and AT Z is because it has full lock up from 2-7th gear, so solid connection rather than fluid coupling.
Don't know what the IS-F has -- maybe matador knows?
Power losses aside (if the MT is ~17% and the AT around 20%, that's only going to be like a 5-6 hp difference), if the AT shifts really fast (untuned, the Z does it in < .3 seconds and can be tuned to shift much, much faster!), the AT car will still acelerate just as quick if not quicker as the MT.
If they're adapting the IS-F trans for the new car, it sounds like they are NOT going to do a repeat of their unforgivably bad AT for the 7th gen Celica GT-S. That was just cruel and inhuman.
That means we can probably expect a very fast, very sporty auto that will match or beat the MT in every regard, plus give you the luxury of being able to just cruise as desired :happy0180:
