The idea you have listed above is cool, but its just about as short sighted as any of the other Android Headunits. There is just no way to make this work with any android phone. The head unit would need to be a custom build or custom connection plate per device. Upgrade your phone and all of a sudden your headunit is worthless until the OEM makes a custom connection plate for our device.
My idea gets around that issue and is vastly cheaper than buying a new phone or new head unit.
