i would try playing with the EQ on the headunit first if it has one, try and bump up the frequency's around 300-800hz

The tonality of the Focals may not go well with the JL's,
Also, if the JL set you have is a 2 way system, you may need to get the 3 way passive crossover to drive them.
Unless you are wanting to run a full active 3 way front stage which even i am not game to try haha.

I have had a mess around with the equalizer... not much luck

still sounds rubbish, lol.
The set I have is just a 2 way set.
I have spoken to JL Audio, and they don't have a midrange speaker that they sell seperately that will fit. I would have to replace the whole system which I am not too keen on.
The man at Tonkins has suggested the Focal midrange speaker with a 3 way crossover. Installed it's $850. So it's not cheap... but I don't really have much of an option.
