2800 is pretty light now a days unless you're talking about Hybrids or city cars. With all the saftey and emissions equipment cars need to have, it's no wonder.

Check out this list from Motortrend and their top 11 lightest production cars they've tested this year:

1) Mazda2

Curb weight: 2269 pounds
2) Honda CR-Z

Curb weight: 2544 pounds

3) Ford Fiesta SES

Curb weight: 2552 pounds

4) Hyundai Elantra GLS

Curb weight: 2747 pounds

5) Nissan Juke SV

Curb weight: 2932 pounds

6) Scion tC
Curb weight: 3093 pounds

7) Volkswagen Jetta

Curb weights: 3141 pounds (SEL), 3179 pounds (TDI)

9) Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition

Curb weight: 3207 pounds

10) Chevrolet Cruze LTZ RS

Curb weight: 3208 pounds
0-60 mph: 9.0 seconds

11) Mini Cooper S Countryman ALL4

Curb weight: 3255 pounds

If the 2850lbs is accurate, it puts the FT square in 5th place on this list. That's pretty damn light for a 2+2 seater. NONE of the four lighter cars on this list would compare to the FT as far as performance goes, not even the CRZ. Especially since the CRZ only sits TWO while the FT will sit a couple of small adults or children. I don't think 2800lbs is bad and how can you compare it to a two seat roadster??
