With all the body kits I don't think that was stopping anyone haha.
It seems to me like Subaru doesn't want to have a "tuner" image. Maybe they were more reluctant to give discounts to the tuning garages? I'm sure the AE86 heritage is also a pretty strong reason why many of them are going with the Toyota variant.
