As dumb as some parts guys can be, I have a feeling if you drive your BRZ to a Toyota dealership and try to buy a part, they'll probably not have it in stock or recommend you go to a Subaru dealership.
I know that was the case at the Ball Honda/Acura dealership back in the days.

Genuine GM parts.....
It was because Toyota sold some GM cars (like the cavalier) overseas, so GM created part numbers for the badges for replacements.
If you know the part numbers you can get some Acura parts from Honda, but no Acura specific parts and vice versa. Pretty stupid IMO. I always cross reference the part numbers for my street cars, the race car I get everything directly from Honda (HPD).
