I was originally going to use heat on mine, but I didn't want to ruin the finish on the caliper. The plugs are put in with red loctite which is why the heat might be required. I can't believe that I got lucky enough to get all the plugs out with no heat and no issues. Your best bet is going to be a small nozzle propane torch that you can get the heat right on the bolt head. I took my plugs out after I had already mounted the calipers.
