im wondering about this tubing, too.
EGR was my first thought, too. But the EGR systems i´ve seen yet were all short, near the head, small diameter and metal (because of the heat).
Second thought was vacuum for the brake booster (is it called this in english?). But seems a bit oversized and wrong positioned... Also there wouldn´t be any vacuum with the throttle closed. It hardly makes sense to keep the throttle open while braking (in normal situations).
Third thought was gas tank ventilation. But also far too big for this purpose.
What might be a reasonable purpose for intake air other than combustion?
