Of course a higher redline would be useful in order to be able to shave time on certain AutoX or road courses, especially (primarily?) if you're competing for trophies (real or imaginary).
The point I intended to make was that in this context of this thread (seeking power) there doesn't seem to be any benefit in raising the rev limit beyond stock from a pure power perspective. Perhaps I should have been more concise.
In our case upping it to 8500 seems safe (Accelerated Performance are running 8.5k on their turbo motor AFAIK) which gives you an extra 1000 rpms to play with. Hugely beneficial on some AutoX courses (particularly the 1st-2nd gear 'specials' I'm used to) and possibly on some road courses. Don't think I'd want to spin it up to 8k+ rpms on a road course for a prolonged period though.
