Tried to start it again this morning, no dice. Going to do the cables later.

I should clarify that I have an MT BRZ with push-button start. The lights go on, and I can even switch the headlights on, but the starter refuses to go past the first "click", unless I push the button 2-3 times, in which case it clicks the same number of times. Nothing happens (although lights are on) if I try and start it again. I then have to abort the process using the button.

I suspect what may have happened is that the Blackvue and its aux-battery has drained the battery due to the following:

1. I usually ask my friend (as it's parked much nearer to her) to start the car every few days. She started it every other day this week.

2. The Blackvue starts up and runs in parking mode once the car is started. This continues for some time after the engine has been stopped, using the Blackvue's aux battery. Then the Blackvue's aux battery draws power from the car.

3. I assume that the car, once started, only idled for 2-5 minutes. The charge passed to the car's battery during this time was not enough to compensate for the drain on the battery caused by the Blackvue aux battery, which was in turn caused by the Blackvue running in parking mode for several hours.

Hence the moral of the story appears to be that I should unplug the Blackvue when I park it in this lot. This shouldn't be a major problem given that it's indoor, covered, very safe, and next to an (old) Rolls-Royce.
