The good news is that dealerships have been instructed not to mark it up (at least that's what the business manager of my local Subaru dealer told me).
I put down a refundable (contingent on test drive) deposit last month. I've never paid MSRP for a car, nor have I ever put down a pre-order deposit. But if the BRZ is reasonably priced, lightweight, and fun to drive, I think it'll be in high demand.

So you can go to a subaru dealerrship NOW and put a "refundable" deposit for a BRZ? i think i might do that too
