Scott... are you asking about a comparison between Unichip and other piggyback systems or between Unichip and everything else?
For the general crowd, the "stigma" about piggybacks all comes from poor programming. There were several third party tuning companies who jumped in with both feet using piggyback systems - including early version of the Unichip - but their knowledge level about engine management in general and piggybacks in particular didn't match their enthusiasm. Different topic probably...
