Standard map loads… just to clarify, all of our kits ship with the lower octane fuel map in switch position 0 and higher octane fuel map in switch position 1… there's generally not a right or wrong way to map things, but your kit will arrive with the map that should deliver the best premium fuel performance in switch position 1.
Map variances… Since there have been a number of map specific questions, tomorrow I’ll start a new thread just about mapping. For this thread, the difference between the All Drop-in Filter map and the All Drop-in Filter, All Header, All Cat/B map is a little bit of fueling and a little bit of timing, but the maps are very similar.
E85… For the eager E85 guys in the crowd, we’re working on a number of options (including an integrated Flex Fuel sensor, yes that's a possibility with the Unichip)… but we haven't made any final decisions about the configuration yet.
One of the biggest advantages of adding a computer to the car as your EMS is that there are a lot of options for doing things… and the Unichip is a very flexible system, which means there are even more options. From an engineering perspective, that’s challenging because we want to offer the most options and the most flexibility to the user without adding extra components and cost.
We’re busy with things, but it’s more than just changing the timing and fueling values, and it takes just a bit of time to ensure its right the first time.
Cheers
