I get what you mean, but I disagree a bit. I don't think that the later movies have "increased" the number of ricers, at least not to the level when the first and second movies came out. I don't know how old you are, but it was ridiculous when the first two movies were released, but it also coincided with the rise of import tuner culture too, which was already on the rise a year or two before the movie was released and peaked in between them. So it wasn't only because of the movie, seeing how street racing culture was already trendy. Remember that they even had a modded Civic race the stolen Porsche 911 at the beginning of Gone in 60 Seconds... and I remember a lot of people even talking about that particular movie scene back when I had my Honda.
