I had mine chipped for a while. It was done on a dyno and was wild, it even had slightly better fuel economy cruising but there was no smoke from the exhaust. That's caused by overfueling and could be fixed by increasing the boost to burn it or backing off the fuel at the appropriate rev ranges.
If there is enough air for the extra fuel and the fuel pump/injectors/combustion chamber/exhaust/turbo limitations aren't exceeded, then with the correct mixture the emissions should be acceptable.
