If I'm spending 20+ grand on a second vehicle to have fun with, it better not have that kind of power

The FB20 was designed with fuel efficiency and emissions as a priority, it`s a long stroke engine with a disastrous rod ratio (1.44).

Tada San mentioned that the engine has been completely modified, they may have gone as far as modifying the bore/stroke as the engine block casting is known to be different from the FB20. Aparently, the restrictions imposed by the engine architecture still stand, as the 7400rpms redline shows, this is no high-revving engine.

Calculating from the FB20 numbers, it generates 196Nm @ 4200rpms and 150hp @ 6000rpms, which means a BMEP of 179 psi at torque peak and 162.5 psi at peak power.

Assuming they manage to keep that BMEP while moving peak power to 7000rpms, the FT86 engine would have 175hp.

Now we know direct injection is being implemented, which usually means a BMEP improvement in the 8-10% range. Using a 10% improvement, BMEP 178,75 @ peak power, calculations show that the engine would have 193 SAE hp. There is NO WAY this engine is making 210hp. It will barely make it to 200.
