Too much posts to read but I will say this and maybe it will help, my brz was totaled a few months back and yes I did pay a california premium on it of 5k. When the insurance company valued my car they valued it at 26k instead of the 32,150 that I paid for it. So I would be down 8k... My car was 3 weeks old with 2,300mi. The total loss agent wont listen to me no matter what when I told him the selling price is much higher. He told me when he looked at california subaru websites they were listed at 27k etc but he doesnt realize when you go to the dealers there is a piece of paper that brings it to "market value" I had to go to my agent and have him call the total loss agent and tell him to call california dealers for him to give me the correct amount back. I ended up only losing around 200 from the accident. It was a PITA to get the correct amount back and I was pissed for the longest time. They realized that in california this car sells for more and now they're going to adjust for that now unless your insurance company hasnt been notified or wants to screw you over. Just bitch if theyre gonna screw you over and bring up BBB.
