I find the traction control works amazing in the winter. The back end had a tendency to swing out at even the slightest tough of more throttle, but the TCS really holds it in place well. You start to slide, but it always catches you in time.
Big snow storm here a while ago, and the light for TCS was blinking non stop, the brake pedal was pulsing like nuts, it was like I was driving a jukebox, haha.
I'm really suprised with the winter driving so far, I find it's not bad at all, I have a lot of traction in snow/ice. (Dunlop winter sport 3d). People who say, we're crazy to drive in winter... with the TCS off, I agree 100%, but otherwise, it's a just like any other car.
