It should. When they say they support higher fsb, it means they can go that high. You can always downclock. Easier to be backwards compatible than forwards compatible, like in the case of my old LGA775 board that didn't support Yorkfield CPUs.

Buy the cheapest motherboard you can find if you want to go this way. Don't worry about good, just worry about getting by until you can get something better. No reason to spend more money than necessary on ancient hardware. Spending 100 dollars here is half the cost of an i5 2500k.
