BRZ launch in NZ
A few lucky (and patient) owners took delivery on Monday of our BRZ's. It was well worth wait, Subaru NZ hosted us out at Hampton Downs Motor Sport track.
Winger Subaru let me drive a Legacy 2.5GT Premium there and back which was a nice little bonus but it was motorway only so not much opportunity to see what the sedan could do suffice to say it is a very accomplished cruiser.
The first thing we saw when we arrived in the paddock was a fully loaded BRZ STi.
After some lunch and a briefing we got down to the business of driving the cars. We had a standard "GT" spec BRZ- equivalent to the Premium US spec in 6AT and the STi in 6MT.
The STi had every option available and certainly looked and sounded the part. The axle back exhaust, whilst sounding absolutely brilliant produces no additional HP.
The head of SNZ and the national sales manager were there. The sales manager confirmed that Subaru will not be producing a go faster model of the car, only providing these bolt on extras. I of course took that with a grain of salt as he was no doubt trying to sell me STi bolt on bits.
The STi drives great, very similar to a Cusco specced GT86 I drove a month ago but a bit softer.
After a fantastic time we cruised back to the dealer, handed over our money and took delivery of our band spanking new BRZ's. I was the first deposit placer in NZ and got the plate BRZ001 allocated.
I stopped off along the waterfront near my house for a few pictures. Its summer here in NZ and it just starting to crank. Love this place.
