It's one thing to try and get in on what could have been a spectacular free giveaway for marketing purposes, versus fleecing a company and holding them responsible for what is clearly a mistake when discovered as such.
Again, if that doesn't apply to you, move on. The statement is for those that were/are expecting something after being denied.

Ok great. That doesn't apply to me at all. I should have said something more along the lines of, "My hats off to them for going above and beyond to offer something any way." (That still isn't what I really want to say, but you guys understand what I mean.)

I do agree with you and the others. It would be shameful if some actually do go to the extent giving them a headache about not giving away exhaust systems.
