The recent reliability problems have been with the 2.5L turbo engine that was designed specifically for the US. They have had tons of ringland failures that require the entire engine to be replaced. This is isolated to that specific engine though and the 2.0L engines that they have in the STI in Japan are rock solid. There's also the fact that Yamaha is helping out with this engine, and every engine Yamaha touches is awesome.
