"But that wasn't really stupidity on your behalf", you might say. Well, the stupidity from me is the fact that my tyres really need to be changed. They're still well within legal limits, but really not safe enough that I could trust them over the winter. They might not have made any difference yesterday, but they definitely wouldn't have made the situation worse. Not gonna drive the car til the new tyres are fitted.

Well done acknowledging your mistake and not making excuses. Glad your guardian angel was on full alert that day!
