I see what you are saying, but I respectfully disagree.
I was not able to remove the carrier bearing to weigh it, but there is not much to it. It is just two metal rings (1/8" thick each) with a bracket and rubber in the middle. I estimate the carrier bearing to be about 2 lbs. (If anybody has the actual weight, then please post it.)
The heaviest parts around the bearing are going to be the U joint and flanges, which are part of the rotational mass. The one piece design of the CF shaft eliminates the middle U joint, flanges and carrier bearing, which reduces overall weight as well as rotational mass.
