My sales guy explained it vaguely and honestly I didn't really understand what he meant. I don't have a clue how you get the rubber around the steel but they mentioned hitting the max PSI before they might damage/blow out the tire... Apparently one of the steelies was "scuffed" in the attempt and was sent to the body shop to be repaired. My guess is that it was actually somehow size related and it was bent/mangled somehow. They said if Costco won't take it back (unlikely) then they'll buy the damaged one off me.
They are apparently going to give me 16" alloys for $70 each instead (less than $30/wheel upgrade cost after I return the steelies), and I'll be done with the hassle for a good few years.
