That's mostly correct, it depends on the design. Typically, tube headers will increase sound (marginally) do to the resonance of tubular piping VS cast manifolds.

Same logic behind a straight exhaust being louder than a factory style exhaust with more bends, less obstructions for sound to be redirected and as a byproduct lose volume (typically)



**Edit forgot to mention, not all "headers" are made from tubular designs, aftermarket cast manifolds and log style also taken into consideration.



*Side note, I am really fucking bored at work today. I have decided working mandatory saturdays every 5 weeks is employment rape, just dont get dinner first.
