Honestly, with the results of the poll, I likely will never begin production, so feel free to poach these ideas. I will totally make my awesome armrest though - but I know it totally is not worth my time to make them for 150.
I would probably make a replica of the center console (maybe slightly undersized to allow for the thickness of upholstery or whatever coating I might use, then just start making them out of fiberglass. I would make about a dozen of those before doing anything else, then while they cure go do the actual arm resting bit (upholstery and foam over either MDF or a sheet of polyethylene). DEFINITELY have someone else handle the skins for the arm rest, be they sewn leather or leatherette or whatever material you like. If you could find a manufacturer and the price was right I would have these made by someone else, but since I was never planning on volume like that, I can't help you there.
Finally, just order your slides from mcmaster carr and bolt it all together! Alternatively you could make the fiberglass lower segment and then upholster directly on top of it to make the removable hole cover that some have requested - it would eliminate a few pieces but I do not think it would be much easier in the end, since you are still dealing with the fiberglass. You definitely can't justify the cost of tooling needed to mold plastics with the anticipated volume.
