Actually there was no welding. The factory rails are still 100% oem. However the brackets that came with the bride seats I had to cut a center section out to clear the factory rail. the seats I have originally came out of a Honda Civic. If you ordered a set for the FR-S/BRZ I'm sure the brackets would clear the factory rail. If you have any other questions. Feel free to ask.
