Speaking of Mazda Skyactiv, I just checked out their website and I feel like they aren't telling the whole story. For example for the transmissions, they claim their transmission is smooth, while dual clutch and regular auto are not, but their transmission is pretty similar to a regular auto, which by avoiding lockup, creates rather smooth operation. Also for their engine, they don't really specify, but to me it sounds like they're trying to tell everyone that the piston cavity and improved exhaust alone can allow the compression increase to 14:1, which I don't really buy.
