A 17x8 rim is clearly not your winter rim choice - why reuse the cheap OEM rubber on a Summer/Performance rim?

Personally I would just save up to put on some proper tires as they WILL positively affect the driving experience in almost every way. Better acceleration, grip through corners and braking are all advanced with a good rubber choice.
One reason is because he used his stock rims for winters and his OEMs have plenty of tread left and he's planning on getting 17x8s anyway. He can mount these while he saves up for better 235-40s.

Not a big market out there for these used tires so the best way to save up is to use them.
