Where i was going with this:
Rpf1 in 17x7 or 17x8 weighs less than 17x9.
D1 star spec in 215/xx weighs less than 245/xx or 255/xx.
In other words if you REALLY cared about weight...
Of course extra grip doesn't hurt. And wider does look better.

I guess that brings up the point of where is the break-even between weight and grip?
In the case of the RPF1/Star Specs
17x8 according to TR weighs 15.6 lbs
17x9 based on research around the internets weighs 15.9 lbs
Assuming 225 for the 17x8, the Star Specs weigh 26 lbs
Assuming 255 for the 17x9, the Star Specs weigh 28 lbs
17x8 total = 41.6 lbs
17x9 total = 43.6 lbs
Stock I believe is ~41 lbs or so.
Compared to stock both of the alternatives should be faster on a track.
Compared to each other, will the 2 lb increase per corner contribute to a slower laptime even though there is more grip?
Obviously this is getting into the nitty gritty, but now I'm curious.
