Going with a full 3" headerback exhaust might make an extra 15hp, but you'll gut the low and midrange torque of most any NA motor. So doing a muffle delete doesn't mean you'll automatically gain or lose power, but the loss of backpressure CAN cost you low-mid range torque. If you keep the rest of the exhaust system, the loss may be minimal, but with no cats and no muffler on a bigger diameter pipe, you WILL lose a more noticeable amount of low end torque but you'll gain some top end torque and power. Personally, I'm not chasing a peak hp number, nor am I trying to make this into a top speed car. So doing a muffler delete along with a huge diameter pipe, no cats and no resonator pulls power from where I need it and puts it where I don't care about as much.
