it looks to me like a lemon would be covered under both state law and federal laws about lemons. The CO and CA laws look pretty similar in function, though the terms are different. Both define a 'lemon' as a car that needs to be repaired for the same issue 4 or more times, or a car that is out of service for more than 30 days. From what I can tell the CA Lemon Law can be invoked for the first 18 months/18,000 miles after buying the car. The CO law however only lasts for the first year after purchase of the new car.
