Some more info: This weekend, I was able to scope out a nice route from the lake, down to Hwy 1 and to the Panoramic Hwy. Here's a link of the route: http://goo.gl/maps/GGB3W

Here's the general directions:
  • From Stafford lake, make a left onto Novato Rd. then another left on Petaluma Point Reyes Rd. (towards the "cheese factory"
  • Stay on Petaluma Point Reyes Rd. and follow signs to Olema (at stop sign, keep straight). Petaluma Point Reyes Rd. turns to Platform bridge Rd.
  • Turn left onto Sr. Francis Drake (towards Olema)
  • At the T-intersection, turn left onto Hwy 1 and follow all the way down to Stinson beach to take a break and a quick stop at the beach.
  • Hop back onto Hwy 1 for ~1/4 mile (you will see a wood fence to your right) and turn left onto the Panoramic Hwy.
  • Continue onto the Panoramic Hwy. then make a left onto Hwy. 1. It doesn't look like there's a spot for us all to have our farewells like last time, so we call all just go our own merry ways as we hit 101.
It was a beautiful drive, specially as the sun was coming up. If you guys liked the Alice drive, you will love this. Word of caution, I was driving home around noon and by that time there were a lot of people around. A good few sections of the panoramic hwy are residential, so expect kids playing on their driveways, people walking around, cyclists and lots of cars parked along the side of the road (residents and hikers, there's lots of trails heading towards Mt. Tam and Miur woods), so lets all be careful out there.
