He's right; the situation he describes is undeniably easier to negotiate with AT than with MT - assuming, of course, that the AT shifts the way you want it to. That said, I personally would still prefer MT because "more fun" trumps "easier", and for me MT is more fun. But seriously, to each his own. Trying to establish which is "better" on an absolute basis is futile.
