This is interesting because the EJ engines have narrow rod bearings and oil pump issues arise every so often. Toyota also uses very narrow bearings around 14mm wide or so. Most other turbo engines use rather wide bearing profiles. 4g63, sr20, and even the k20 have much wider bearings around 17-19mm wide.

Then again, the bearings on the fa20 are much longer. Though narrow, the crank journals seem to be rather large in total diameter, and perhaps this increases oil film surface area.
