Most dealers know the drill pal, you ARE the factory's representative and therefore must look after the customer when problems arise under warranty. The 'we didn't build it' attitude will not go down well with the factory since it's them which will pay you in the end for all repairs under warranty. You MUST look after the factory's interests, having that sort of mentality will earn you no friends or RO's for that matter.
Many dealers these days will not hesitate in loaning a car be it their own or the factory's, even for servicing - for free. Being diplomatic is the best policy when dealing with anything really and so when I approach a dealer for help then I would obviously do it in a non-threatening manner.
My current Toyota dealer does a MAGNIFICENT job & I highly recommend them to all my friends & family. I have known them for almost 20 years buddy, I have a great relationship with the service dept & TMCA Tech Division if it's ever required. Their work ethic & superb relationship with the factory tech team is one of the reasons why I drive a Toyota - if anything goes wrong there's a good chance it will get fixed really quickly. A LOT of dealers can learn from them.
