Part 4 didn't really have anything we hadn't seen before... the Charger and Chevelle had been since in the first one, and the R34 already made an appearance in the second one. Other than that, we saw an STI in action along with a G35, Mustang and Torino... not exactly "premium" or "high end." The NSX hardly had any noteworthy screen time, but Ludacris's character had an NSX in the second one (with an LV-esque paintjob that matched his pickup truck), though it ended up not being in the movie.
Part 5 moved more toward classic and/or muscle cars, though in the director's commentary, they wanted to use modern exotics for the train sequence (like a Mercedes SLR and a few others), but they said it would've increased their budget by too much... not to say that the GT40 isn't awesome. The 911 GT3 was a 996 (not a bad thing, but clearly not the newest thing out there either), while the hypercars like the LFA and CCX weren't really in any sequences worth replaying.
