Hi everyone, a couple things...

I am not a vendor, and I will not be selling this armrest.

I was given an opportunity to test it on behalf of Scion Canada. It was an opportunity that I thought this community would be interested in - a nice OEM accessory. If and when this armrest becomes available, I will be the first to share with you the particulars.

I've had some updates from the design team:
-there will be a relief in the mounting bracket/lid to allow for charging cables to go through with the lid closed
-side hinged design remains
-single-stitching remains to match door panel trim
-RHD and LHD versions will be available in various markets

Some of you may be disappointed in hearing this, but allow me to clarify a couple of things... As this will be an OEM offered piece, certain design elements cannot work.

For example, the idea to have the armrest simply sit in the recessed centre console area: this design wouldn't be offered for potential injuries in a crash - with nothing securing it, it could fly around the cabin injuring people. Same deal if it was removed and placed in the back seat.

Adding a sliding and rear tilt mechanism: Because this piece isn't integrated into the centre console, making a sliding mechanism that is robust enough would add much cost and complexity to this piece. Also, the length of the hinge on the side versus the potential length of a rear-mounted hinge would mean the rear hinge would have to be very heavy duty - again, adding cost. The ability to use the armrest with the rear seats folded flat is a concern as well.

I hope this clears things up for everyone.

Let's keep this thread on topic. If anyone has any questions, feel free to post.

Thanks.

Colin
