Yes, there isn't a twin-screw I know of that operates over 70% efficient.

Building mid range sounds nice, but you will be limiting the top end power production and producing more power in the rev range where the engine is more prone to detonate. The high compression ratio is going to love boost and revs. But you'll definitely need to be conservative in tuning anywhere in the middle. Heat, boost, and high compression ratio don't lend themselves highly for a torque monster.

Mid range bump of 40% can easily be had with a centrifugal charger, but top end gains are going to be a lot bigger. Previous experience with Vortech chargers is that they don't feel laggy. They produce boost quickly in the rev range and increase in power the closer you get to rev limit.
