Okay completely hijacking my own thread, but I kinda want to see what effect charge cooling has. Okay on the compression stroke assuming 12:1 compression would be, about 1atm*V(12^-0.3-1)/-0.3=1.75 atm * V or actually in terms of temperature is better so 1.75 nRT. So for each mole air (let's just say, 20% O2 molecule 80% N2, they have similar atomic weights so this approximation should be fine), we are adding 1.75*8.31J/molK * 300K (let's say it's a nice day out) = 4.36kJ. This is probably way too low since heat ratio drops at higher pressure. I wouldn't be surprised if it were more like 10kJ.
Okay we need 2/3 of 20% of methanol, which I'll just call 1/8. 1/8 mol methanol takes 35/8 or about 4.3 kJ to vaporize

Okay obviously there's a huge problem since towards the end of the compression stroke the pressure is very high and the temperature shoots up a lot more than that. But we can see that methanol provides extremely significant charge cooling. Theoretically methanol could cut the compression stroke power loss by a huge percentage.
Yea one day I am going to definitely have to try tweaking a car to run on methanol. Hippies be damned about toxicity.
