I didn't find the 996 that bad, I liked it really. I only listen to CDs tho, so no idea about the interface. That being said, the 80 in in a whole different league. Auto tune gives a good foundation, but the TA, crossover slopes, separate l/r EQ, and separate individual speaker levels gives you the tools to truly make a great sounding system. Or totally F it up. Lol. Hopefully I'm doing the former.
