I'd get an off the shelf oil cooler kit, the same reason I would get an off the shelf turbo kit; because someone else has already designed it.

I hear what you're saying, that it might be best to build a custom one, but anyone designing a turbo kit should also consider an oil cooler kit for their product as an up-sell. Seeing NA FA20's getting unacceptable oil temps means that it's going to be a definite for any turbo setup.
