[Edited to stay on topic] After 12 years of manual transmissions in my "fun" cars, I'm all for a quality paddle-shifting automatic transmission.

lol, I know what you mean but...

I disagree, most of the women in my family tend to drive manual transmissions, one of note being my mother. She is the most god awful driver that I have ever had the displeasure of riding with. I wouldn't let her drive my mountain bike, let alone automobile. How she's still around is beyond me.

Knowing how to operate a manual transmission != knowing how to drive like a non-idiot. Having two spare brain cells that know how to press a pedal in sync with moving a stick to and fro doesn't also mean they have driving skill. My 88 year old grandfather drives a manual and he can't even dodge a trash can. He is also the man who "taught" me how to drive a manual. When I was 12 he asked me what I would do if he had a heart attack and it was just he and I in the car. So he pulled over and told me to drive him home, giving me no instruction and just let me figure it out on my own. That poor Chrysler Horizon.

Also saying "No, you're not driving my car" works well too.
