It all depends on the color and where you park it. Certain species are attracted to certain colors.

The problem is that their droppings (a mixture of feces and urine) gets on the clearcoat. This insulates the clearcoat from the sun. When the clearcoat expands and contracts under solar radiation, the area under the bird mess does so at a different rate. As a result, the clearcoat tends to ripple in that spot. So the marks are a result of the temperature difference, not corrosion.
