I bought it as a cheap to own commuter car (I had a 70 mile one way commute) to keep miles off my John Cooper Works MINI Cooper S. I thought I wanted durable basic transportation. When I found out how basic it was, I REALLY wished I'd paid a little more and gotten something better.

My MINI (my first small car) is really tricked out. It has xenon lights, front & rear fog lights, driving lights, heated leather seats, climate control, rain sensing wipers to go with the JCW engine, brakes and suspension. I ordered what I wanted, and about 4 months later it was delivered. I've lived with that abomination of a Civic for nearly 5 years and 150K miles. I plan to have a new BRZ before 2013 ends. I'm saving my nickels and dimes to pay cash for one.

I'm torn on what to do with the Honda. I'll probably either sell it to a private party or donate it to someone who needs a car (an older person or struggling student). If it wasn't so wasteful, I'd kinda like to take it to a junkyard owned by a close friend and personally toss it into the shredder with his forklift after I pour 5 gallons of gas onto it and toss matches at it for a while. The handling is horrible, the brakes are worse, and the steering is utterly non-responsive. It was so bad that I installed Si springs, shocks, and swaybars when it was 2 weeks old. The mods helped, but it just isn't much of a car. It might be OK for an urban commuter, but in the rural mountains of north Georgia, it's just horrible.

I was just going to drive it until it died as penance for impulse buying a POS, but some recent health problems and the emergence of the BRZ have helped me change my mind somewhat.
i can certainly sympathize with your civic experience.i own a 2012 civic ex,and it is what it is.the car is "bulletproof",but not any where near the driving experience the frs is.the car was never designed to drive that way.it is designed to wear like an anvil, and trust me,they do! you should know ya put on 150k miles in 5 years. i am letting mine go,while it still has very high resale value they are allowing me $16,800 towards the frs this is very high, and i doubt if i can get more privately, because there are incentives on the civics right now,and most people will buy new anyway.i'll get mine this coming week,as it has hit ground at the dealer, and i'm ready to rock! best of luck with your brz hope ya get it sooner, and not later!
