I'd rate AP and Alcon as the best you can buy. But they're more race setups than street. The hooked patterns do look cool. If you want something that looks good you could use DBA's new drilled and slotted rotors and STI brembos. I'll be doing Wilwood kits locally soon, which should be cheaper than any other kit out there.

In terms of using race brakes on the street, it all comes down to pad choice. You just need something that works well when cold. There's lots of choice out there for pads.
